Yes, this is a fashion blog, no, this is not a post on shoplifting. So. La Fille D’Or has a great idea to make outfits out of three items in her closet that she doesn’t often wear. Now, since I have a giant wardrobe, I too have this problem. Not to a huge degree; if I don’t wear something, it goes buh-bye. But three is not a big number. So: here’s my three! You know what? Make that four.
Like the good Brooklynite I am, I try not to look like a hipster. Always. Ever. But these fingerless gloves belonged to my great aunt–they’re not hipster, they’re antique! I’ve still been wary to wear them, but no more.
I bought this dress at a steep discount (I think I paid about $40, while it retailed at $300ish), and yet, I’ve only worn it once. Uh, oops.
My kitten seems to like it.
Theoretically, I adore this tank, but thanks to the short length, it’s really hard to wear. And because the detailing is cream-colored, it looks strange when I just stick a white tank under it. So, here’s number three. Plus cat:
Lastly, this is a bit of a cheat, because I used to wear this all the time. I don’t really wear it any more, but I can’t bear to part with it, so I’m going to make the effort to welcome it back into rotation. I got it in highschool (I’m now done with college), and it’s more of a burgundy than the photograph shows:
So that’s it! Stay tuned for outfit photos.

I loved this idea, too!
I ended up pulling out 3 dresses I don’t wear this morning for this very reason! I think I might actually get rid of one of them though (from a swap – the buttons kind of suck).

Could you swap the buttons out? Or is the dress not worth the effort?

First of all: Awwww Kitten!!!!!!!!
Second, I love the fingerless gloves. Items like that are insanely awesome, but there rarely seems to be an appropriate time to wear them. I have some (leather and studded – haha) and I always feel a bit pretentious wearing them.
The tank is so cute, but the length is definitely a huge issue if you aren’t on a beach, or a boat. Maybe over a black dress?

Gah! I tried to leave a comment and it wouldn’t let me (my internet is cutting in and out) so I left it on the previous post. But, I wanted to comment here as well.
I love the tank dress and the tank- and that’s so cool that those gloves belonged to your great aunt!

Ooh, those fingerless gloves are amazing! I really like this idea… I think I’ll steal it too.
Like you, if I don’t wear something I usually get it out of my closet, but there are still a few things languishing in the back that don’t get much attention! What a neat way to use them!

Love the tank and the gloves. I can’t wait to see how you style them. I am going to wear a dress I thirfted but rarely wear today in response to this post. Your comment about looking like a hipster in Brooklyn makes me laugh. I totally get that, but how does one dress in a vintage/thrifted manner without screaming “hipster”? I always assumed that I could not be a hipster because I am pretty ambitious about my career, but my friends from college always say “You moved to Brooklyn and became a hipster.” There’s no winning on that war, sometimes.

Double whammy! « What I Wore
