I’ve been on a Mary Tyler Moore jag lately. Sure, the jokes are simply quippy at best and punny at worst, but there’s something about it that’s comforting as hell. Sure, it could just be that it brings back memories of watching Nick-at-Night in my parents’  basement, but I prefer to think that it’s the early feminism it embodies. It might be second-wavey (I mean, it is second-wavey), but something about the girl-positive idealism of it all just really, really appeals to me.

And the clothes! Let’s look.

Stacked belts, springy colors.  . . ! There’s an episode wherein Mary wears an outfit that I swear could have come form Dear Creatures, too. I couldn’t find that, but aren’t these great? It all makes you want to toss your hat in the air, hmm?
